It's a lively engine isn't it! Where's all that smoke coming from? Is it oil burning?

I'm not sure where the smoke is coming from, it's been suggested that perhaps it's a split pipe.

I took the EGR valve out and although all of the pipe work is covered in heavy oily slime, it works fine.

It's probably going to end up being injectors. Someone told me they have to be programmed to the ECU.

It's going to be fun and games.

Worth it i hope though as it's in great condition and very comfortable too

I don't think faulty injectors are causing the smoke unless they're leaking fuel

not really, just a bit of black smoke when you boot it. Not that you can really boot it right now!

Oily slime all over the egr pipe work...... Thinking failed turbo... Or it's deciding to over fuel to compensate for another fault.

Start simple and change the filter and check for injectors leaking and also split pipes.

the Injectors on deisels normall sit on a copper O ring, somtimes these can go and it'll chuff oily crap out and run like pants, often sounds like a really leaky exhaust manifold gasket.

It has been suggested that there might be a split pipe somewhee causing all that smoke from under the bonnet. Il strip it all out tomorrow and see what's what

Hope it's not the turbo  O_O

Took some bits off today and had a poke around. There is oil everywhere!

The intercooler pipework has oil in it, the inlet manifold is caked in oil, the air filter is black but i can't see any split hoses anywhere.

Looks to me like the Turbo gone mate!

Exactly what happened to my 1.96dci.

Fitted a new turbo and it blew within 30 miles.
