I kept all of the the wiring and ecu from the red one. the only thing i used from the donor car was 1 driveshaft, the engine and the intercooler.

I started clapping like an idiot when it started first go.

I am no mechanic so i was very surprised it all worked out.

It should be on the road monday afternoon

Thanks sledgehammer and MrBounce.

I have been finishing up a few little jobs this afternoon. namely refitting the arch liners, undertrays and wheels and replacing the broken foglight

The rusty remains of the old one

And the new

And then after spending a while checking and double checking everything and fitting two bolts i missed (oops) it's all sorted

P1060687_zpsixitu4se.jpg

The i went over it again and replaced a blown interior light bulb removed the hard and broken pollen filter so the blower now blows and then it moved under it's own steam for the first time in 6 months!

It is whisper quiet inside and very well equipped and i'm very happy with it. The clutch is very light and easy and it just feels generally very good. Reverse gear is hard to engage but i think i just need to adjust the selector bar as i forgot to mark it's position when i removed it so i just guessed when i put it back.

I just need to give it a VERY big clean up now as it is filthy and then just drive it.

Nicely done. You should be quite proud of all that work.

Now the car is sorted, are you not tempted to strip the other engine down to see what was wrong with it?
