On the subject of antifreeze, according to my Comma book your Scenic should have pink/red. There is also a product called Prestone (from Holts) that will happily mix with any colour antifreeze. That would save flushing etc.

Its been a long old day today. Got loads done though so i'm very happy.
So first i picked up the engine crane only to injure myself loading it into the car but hey ho.
Got home and lifted the engine and box out of the donor car
And the stripped off the manifolds, turbo and gearbox from it
And then put on my good gearbox onto the good engine and manouvered it into position
And then put it in to the car. It went really smoothly and once the engine and gearbox mounts were fitted and tightened, i started running the wiring loom, fitting a/c pipes and coolant hoses.
This is where i finished up today
So tomorrow, i just need to fit the driveshafts, manifolds, turbo, turbo pipework and replace the intercooler, fill with fluids and hopefully start it up.
I need to work out how to adjust the clutch cable too as it is a tad slack and can be unhooked from the clutch arm using just my pinky. So that needs sorting.
I can't afford any gearbox oil until monday so i won't be able to drive it yet plus i need to find out how much it needs to fill it also.
Cheers
Ben

I'm paying for it now though!
I just want to get everything done whilst it is still fresh in my head.
I was just looking over some photos i took before is stripped it and have noticed that i have refitted the fuel supply and return pipes the wrong way round. good job i checked!
I also had to swap over the fuel return pipes that go across the top of the injectors as the new engine had a slightly different set up.
In doing so, i snapped one of the pipes off inside the injector. i managed to fish it out with a tiny precision screwdriver so all is well.

According to my book, your Scenic (a MK1) takes 3.1 litres of 75/90 GL5 spec.

Thanks for the advice.
I have been at it all day again and have finally finished putting it back together. Just the undertray, arch liners and wheels to go back on now.
Oh, and fill up the gearbox.
So here is the finished engine.
And the bodywork back on.
Had a few problems however. I struggled for over an hour to route and connect all of the coolant hoses only to find that i had an extra tube for a hose to connect to on the thermostat housing.
So i checked the bottom hoses on the donor car and there is an extra hose.
I ended up having to disconnect all of the hoses again and swap the thermostat housing with the one on the dead engine.
Oh well, at least it is back together now.
Cheers
Ben
