if its French electronics, then steadily increasing degrees of insanity coupled with feelings of despair, persecution and an overwhelming urge to shout 'why me' at the top of your voice.

(I would buy it for that though :-) )

A bottle of diesel injector cleaner and a new filter cured the slight misfire on our Td5. Not the same I know, but worth a try.

Be prepared for the turbo to go. Mine went at 110k miles and the garage I took it to said that the turbos go at around 100k and result in a whole engine rebuild.

But for £175 it's cheap motoring until it goes :)

My mother-in-law is going over there as we speak to pay a deposit.

I shall go and collect it on Tuesday once we are back on IOW.

The bloke was really nice, he told be lots about the car and how good it is, which i know is normal but he just sounded very genuine and even suggested that i would make more money back if i broke it up and scrapped the shell. He is even leaving the tax on it!

He was going to scrap it himself but couldn't bring himself to do it as it still drives so well. (his words not mine) we shall see!

Ill let you know what it's like when i pick it up and drive it

Hope to use it as is for now?

Ben

I picked the car up today and it looks good, but that's as far as it goes.

It's a real pig to drive.

It misfires on tickover which causes it to chug and shake and when you rev it it chugs until you get past 3000rpm and it clears.

Pulling away out of junctions etc, you have to floor the throttle before coming off the clutch and its gutless.

So do these symptoms sound like something simple or is it worse than i thought?

Cheers

Ben

I was going to suggest a blocked fuel filter but the symptoms would be the other way round. You could try a set of replacement injectors and see if its any different.
