If you fix the Scenic then at least you've got a car to get around.

 

I completely agree with Adam

It just seems too good to scrap. all the other scenics i have looked at are scruffy, high mileage heaps unless you pay over the £1000 mark where they start getting nice.

 

This one has had alot of money spent on it recently on new suspension, tyres and brakes.

 

If i can get it running right for little money it will be a cheap, tidy car.

 

Yeah it may be an old kiddy carrier but my needs were an economical diesel car that has the practicality of a car but with the space of a van as and when needed.

 

If i don't fix this one, then i will be after something similar in the near future, the faithful old 106 will have to stay.

So today, i swapped over the injector i replaced with one of the others and it made no difference.

 

So that means that the injector i bought from eBay works fine and the problem lies with that cylinder, be it electrical or mechanical.

 

It's weird though because that end, the injector is completely dead, there is no fuel being delivered at all, the end of the injector was bone dry when i removed it.

Get a multimeter on the injector wiring, test a known good wire and compare it with the readout of the wiring to the dead cylinder.

I think you could be close to an answer!

I'm guessing that any signal voltage to an injector might be too short in duration to check with a multimeter and it might need an oscilloscope.

You could trace the supply wires to the injector back up the loom 6 inches at a time - teeing in and bypassing the remainder to the injector- to see if any part of the length is faulty.

All it will cost you is time.

Nothing from royal snail yet mate.

 

The injector i swapped it for was a bit wet with derv round the base but that was probably me the other day, cracking fuel unions to check for pressure.

 

Other than that,bone dry

The one you took out was completely dry.

 

I wonder what would happen if you connected a bulb up to the wiring???????

 

Do some research in case you damage something though.

 

If I were to do it I'd do it in parallel and leave the injector wired up, and by trying it on a cylinder it does fire on, and the one it doesn't, compare the difference.

 

It's just a theory though, so I'm not sure

I've been following this from the start, and have been gutted all throughout, as you, more than anyone deserves some good luck!

 

Sounding more promising now, I'd definitely be in there testing those injector wires, especially as you said the injector was bone dry, somethings got to be stopping it injecting...

Thanks Ross. Hoping for a small miracle, not to much to ask surely!

 

I will either fix it or i will find out what is causing it. It won't leave my driveway until i at least find out what it is, even if i don't fix it.

 

Otherwise it would bug me for ever more

Fair enough, yeh it went over my head that you said you already tried it! Yeh, a noid light would be ideal
