I cannot remember which wires plugged where,on the rear loom going to lights, indys, fog light. The wiring in the boot was a bit wrong to start with, from previous owner converting from brake, indy, reverse lights,to the mk2 lights of no reverse light.I seem to have what seems like wrong coloured wires, and maybe a few extra, that do not seem to connect anywhere?
I have connected the 2 loom plugs to each light,so surely there not wrong,as there only one way fit.Now the lights are just placed on parcel shelf at the moment, while I try and get them working. My tail lights are working, but when I press the brakes the stop lights are not working and if I switch indicator on the tail lights flash, not indicators?
If I switch hazards on,the indicators all flash, but there is slight current/light on the tail light bulb?
Sorry for long post, but before stripping car down, they all seemed to work ok! can a bad earth cause this...its a 1991 4 way fusebox, with 2 pin hazard,3 pin flasher if it helps.Been trying most of the night to sort it, with no luck.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, if there's no earth connection the current will back up another earth wire if it finds a path via another earthing point. If that's via a higher resistance it'll limit the current at the indicator (that's now wired in series) and it might not light up even though there's enough current to heat the tail light bulb to a glow.

No ignition off.It seemed fine before even with ignition off, either fitting rear lights or since I changed from a blade fusebox back to standard glass fuses.
