Hi guys,

A bit confused on which around the primary shim / washer goes onto the crank. I've read that the heavily chamfered side goes towards the block, but correct me if I'm wrong but these pictures show it the other way around:

Are the pictures right and I'm losing the plot :-|

Cheers,

Please ignore my last post.

After inspecting my new shim / washer it is chamfered on both sides, one side heavier than the other.

My original wasn't chamfered on one side making me believe that the shims / washers shown in my 1st post were the wrong way around, my bad.

Old shim / washer:

This might be of use to someone else ;-)

The larger chamfer goes towards the crankshaft face as the corner is a radius and without the chamfer the thrust washer will not sit against the crank face.

That's what I initially thought but looking at the two examples that I found and shown in my first post a chamfer is facing away.

The shim that was originally on my engine only had one side chamfered, not both, that's what threw me as it made me think they were all like that - only one side.

All sorted now, got my new shim in, wet and dried the c clip with a bit of WD40 to give 4-5 thou.

Cheers,
Ian
