Some more 1980's racing photos that I took at Lydden Hill circuit in Kent. My brother Steve was mechanic on a Mini 7 at the time and went on to become Chris Tyrrells mechanic in Mini 7 and for a while the Metro Challenge before reverting back to Mini7 and Miglia as a driver in the 1990's.

Believe it or not it was Fred Hendy, it ran in the up to 850cc class.

I would like to know who owned the #36 white Mini, anyone ?

Interesting to see the Streat Motors racer there from Redhill. The company is still in business and still with that phone number!

Thoughts are it may be a Mini-Ford Ford crossflow engine on a Mini gearbox or if an A-Series then possibly a Weslake 8-port head with TJ injection?

Mini-Ford conversions like below (recently for sale on Ebay) were a popular mod for a while in Special Saloon racing Mini's in the 1970/80's.......the pushrod crossflow, Ford/Lotus twincams and later 16-valve BDA's were all grafted onto Mini gearboxes before transverse fwd engine/gearbox transplants of other manufacturers complete units became more common and easily available.

The mystery 8-port head looks similar to this in link below......a later variation produced by Jonspeed called the 'Jomo' head has been suggested.
