Not gonna lie. I love lowered VWs. But then I like all cars really. I don't understand why when someone owns a Jap car they must feel like they must "hate" on VW owners. Or vice versa.

My mini is not a track car. I don't want a stupid straight box that whines away or a cam which means when your in a traffic jam you need to rev the nads off it to get it to idle.

I mainly drive though towns and am not often moving for the 40 MPH. There for would rather have a car that is stanced nice with some nice wheels are arches then some super duper race car.

My mini is low but it handles (it does need the rear raised a bit I will admit) like a dream. I can throw it in to corners and it just goes round them. I have had some epic little back road hoons with some big boy cars where they have struggled to keep up in the twisty bits. I will admit it is not the most comfy car in the world though.

Stanced cars good for what there meant for. Looks. Race cars and good for race tracks. Standard cars are good well quite frankly just being boring.

Lol, not just because I own a Jap car that I hate on VWs. I just don't like them in general. I've had all sorts of cars from bangers to brand new (I get bored quick :P only 22 and had like 11 cars lol not including minis), but still don't like VWs. once you've seen one, you've seen them all, plus they're the worst for stance so no thanks. They just don't do anything for me. Rather have a Suzuki Alto than a VW (no offence to Alto owners :P) genuinely would though

Loving the EG by the way. Not to everyone's taste, but mines best car I've owned. I love it and it's one of the cheapest I've owned, yet I prefer it!

to be honest the 'Once you have seen one you have seen them all' comment seems a bit silly. I am in to my VWs and can say for sure thats not true but unless you know what your looking at then you won't be able to tell necessary. To me most Jap cars look the same but as I have never been to a jap show or owned a Jap car in my life so clearly have no idea what I am on about as I know my mate who owns had that one I posted above has done loads of trick bits. Like Evo seats for example.

My mini is another case in point. I have loads of subtle bits on that which most people will never notice.

As with any styling trend we all have our own opinions and preferences. I personally like stanced cars, but that doesn't mean i like all of them. I really love original classic cars, and i also like modified classics, and thats why i chose a mini, its communities straddle both of these ideas reasonably well. I like slammed VW beetles, i like stanced 190Es, the list goes on - essentially, i can appreciate hard work, and a well thought out build. I'd say this is the defining point between a crappy lowered car and a tasetfully lowered car.

If i were you i'd do a little more reading around the subject. Visit the stanceworks website for example and read some of the articles. Andrew Ritter, who writes articles on there owns a mini, and is also member of this forum i believe. Generally from my experience i'd say that the mature side of the 'stance scene' isn't just about lowering cars, as much as it is a celebration of the multitudes of automobiles out there.

Tomaito / tomarto and all that jazz.

You should go to a Jap show, leaky. Trust me, sooo much better. Just awesome! I see VWs sitting on their arse every day so that's enough for me. I've only been to one VW show when I owned the Lupo and was just like Tam said earlier on in the thread.

People like different stuff, it's the way of the world. I don't see why people get offended, as long as the owner likes their car who cares what anyone else thinks? But equally others have the right not to like it and say so. There are things I like and things I don't. Car wise I have a very broad taste including some stuff most people hate, but I don't like other stuff loads of people do like beetles and focus's. The point of a forum is to discuss stuff, if we all liked the same stuff and all agreed on everything it would be a very boring place. The only things in life I really can't abide are Jazz, pasta and racists in that order.

I agree with the above. If we all liked and agreed the same life would be boring. Its nice that different people do different things to cars as it give a nice selection of things to look at.

I am not a great fan of French cars. I don't mind a few of the old things but never a fan of the new stuff.

Although this is a good mate of mines 206 and its is one of my favourite cars out at shows at the moment.

10530758_507000696097939_524566444404087

The very VW ish style of it is so different to most french cars you see which tend to just have some stupid reverse rake and rip speed alloys. Again unless you know what your looking at most people won't see the details on that. Few bits are smoothed off the splitter is a modified of a seat cupra I believe. I like the subtle details in cars. Not every mod needs to be in your face.

Is that 206 on air? rear tuck is mad!

If not how on earth do they get it that low. My civic when I first bought it had super low meister r coilovers (think they're the best you can get for EGs etc) but down all the way it was still no where near as low like some are. I understand that more mods will be taken into consideration, but still.

I am wary of French motors after many weekends trying to suss my mates 306 electronics and make the damn thing run, but I would love one of the mad Clios, 3.0litres in a Clio? That's crazy, would also love a 5 turbo, and a Citroen DS but that's mainly due to Mr Jolly lives next door (Rik Mayall and Ade edmondson comic strip presents, the funniest hour ever).
