my two mini's - turbo conversion getting there. welding done, bar the exhaust downpipe. speaking of which i think I'm going to try and cram another silencer under the car. a small jetex one :

Round silencer box [MIDI] [2 inch] [stainless steel] - Dia=100mm / L=417mm u415100r.jpg

But remember the turbo will muffle the exhaust note compared to what it was and any unnecessary back pressure will slow your spool-up time and reduce maximum boost.

With 200+ bhp per tonne they won't be looking at you for very long :-)

Small updates really -

Injectors are installed from a 1.6 almera , you simply leave the rail alone and replace the injectors in the rail.

i really hope they are enough to power the turbo with standard engine internals. if not i can over pressure the fuel system now as i have changed the fuel rail to a non standard FSE pressure regulator.

RS turbo inlet charge cooler fitted ... kinda .... to the front.

Compressed air feed from the turbo routed under the car to the charge cooler, from that to the intake air temp sensor (new webcon item)

Air filter attached and made to fit in the only space available now right next to the sump. this might get a bit saturated in wet weather so i might have to think again about this....

New Throttle body now remounted on the plenum.

Dump valve from a saab installed (i hope it doesn't go chhhhhh when i change gear like a proper chav)

I have also started to look at the loom situation - i have a simple but well made loom for the MBE ecu i have now (the DTA one was returned when they went bust)

Im going to have to rewire quite a bit, the injectors for instance don't use standard plugs. but the loom uses standard junior mini timer things. gah...

Next is a picture of the Allspeed drives shafts i have upgraded to, it looks like they were designed to use 2x the 3 prong cir clip style pot joints so i will be cutting out the channel about an extra 2 mm so that the spring clip can spring into it. at the moment the clip can't contact into the gap so you cannot drive it into the near side pot joint.

another lathe job i guess.

Have you thought about an aux fan yet?
Mines only the 998 but has an alloy rad but she wil start to overheat in traffic
It looks fairly tight around your rad area with your top hose and the intercooler may impeed air flow somewhat

yeah the rad fan, well the trigger will be a custom output from the ECU so that i can control it properly.

As for the fan itself in the past when it was the 1380 a-series i had it in the wheel arch pulling the air through the rad, i should be doing that again unless the space has changed.

i am completely winging it at the moment so it might change by the time i post again.

it passed its MOT yesterday for the first time with the micra engine in it. No boost deliberately as its really out of tune.

pleased with it though, will get more info from the rolling road in a few weeks. happy days.

Nice one :) how does she drive? And how is the fan system for cooling her working? I'm thinking of changing mine to pulling not pushing air when I change my engine over

With the new ecu I set the fan to turn on with 85 deg and turn off at 80. It always manages to do that so far. No boost yet though. I'm still pushing the air through the rad for simplicity.

In terms of driving it's just the same at the moment other than massively out of tune. Still loads of torque as it did have.

Is the wideband ok being so close to the turbo outlet?
