MB wheels are great, we use his magnesium 13' wheels on our caterhams. you HAVE to phone him up and you have to pester him a little bit if youre not spending loads with him, he has many many customers and not many people doing work for him!!

Jez £950 is very steep (in my opinion anyway)

I do love the MB.

Image wheels will work out at around £700 just for 4 wheels dependant on spec.

For those that are interested, I rang Mike Barnby (MB Racing) back in August and he informed me that he might make a batch of mini wheels over the xmas period, depending on the level of interest. He has a large stock of the outer rims but it's the centre pieces that need to be made. Unfortunately, when I rang him again yesterday he has had no more enquiries since my last call.

If there are people on here that genuinely are after a set then make sure you give him a call or mail (http://www.mb-racing...com/contact.htm), and with enough interest we might be able to get our hands on some!

Adam

I just sold set of mbs 2 nites ago for £600, they were listed on facebook less than a hour and had full payment in my bank. Should of stuck them up for £700, Only sold them to buy a new set of force racing set because I've got 4 sets of force wheel for my miglia race car and wanting the same wheel nut configuration. Make sure mb make the wheel nuts too as the harder to find.

Yeh they sell really well as we've seen on ebay which is why I thought there would be a lot of interest, they're only around £150 each new!

Given how well they sell I don't understand his attitude towards marketing and selling the wheels. If I was him I'd just make them, and carry them as a stock product, to be bought as and when.

The whole issue of the way MB makes and sells wheels is odd. I wouldn't want to buy four wheels and then find it impossible to get a replacement if one got damaged.

Yes it's a strange one but his opinion was that no one wants to buy mini wheels nowadays.. wouldn't say I agree though he produces wheels for a wide range of cars so maybe the his volumes are much higher for those..

In regards to replacement wheels you have a very Good point that I hadn't considered..

I really love the 12" MB wheels, and had they been available off the shelf when I was very serious about buying some, I'd have a set now. Wheels like these are often an impulse buy. Ordering, expressing interest etc just doesn't cut it in these situations.

If they were off the shelf, I imagine one day whilst in the mood I'd just buy some, and I have no doubt that most of us work in the same way.

Contact ML motorsport, they have worked closely with Mike for many years. Andy often brings a set to shows and has a set on his minus race car. I understand they had one of the very last sets of MB split rims to be produced. As far as I know, Mike who is local to me based on an industrial estate, has stopped trading.

I went down that route when I was serious about getting some, the whole situation was a farce and I never got the wheels I wanted.

So MB wheels has closed since Adam contacted them in August? well that's the end of that then.
