Chris1992 that grill looks ace! Did you prep it before painting?

 

 thanks mate! yeah i attacked it with a belt sander, then a couple coats of primer before a couple coats of black  :D

Where did you get them grilles from? They look the nuts!!!!

 

They're referred to as moustache grilles, or MK1 grilles. They are available from minispares and other mini parts retailers.

From what i understand Morris minis had 7 slats, Austin minis had 11.

just my standard grille that rattle caned matte black. im planning on making a mesh one soon though  ;D

Custom made, 6mm ABS plastic, with stainless mesh sat behind then painted black.

 

MDF templates made, then placed the plastic on top and shaped with a router.

yeah dont see why not. should strip all the chrome off nicely

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but seeing as I used the search to find this I seen it acceptable!!


Has anyone got any "unconventional" or "heavily modified" grilles?
