Hi All,

Took my mini out for her first drive yesterday and apparently my 13 stone fat arse was too much for the seats.

I have the standard SPI seats that came in my '93 Sprite, and there is a mesh/rubber bit that lives under the seat that gave up last night and left me nearly sitting on the floor.

Are there any companies that would sell the part, or that would repair the seat?

I'm meant to be going to IMM next week in her! :(

Thanks,

Callum.

make sure the holes in the frame haven't become elongated. My '98 MPI ones had and I had to re-drill the holes next to the old ones

Its bloody tough to pull the metal clips over, you need to use some strong string and pull the bars over (there are 2 holes in the diaphragm for this)

Two holes? Really, you learn something every day. I replaced mine a few weeks back and it's a struggle. I found starting at the back and working forwards was a help. I used pliers and brute force and got there eventually. The holes in my frame had deformed pretty badly which probably made it easier, although it doesn;t help with sag. I'll get them welded up and re-drilled when the car undergoes it's resto. One thing is the item currently available is different to the original and I've found that my seat now sags considerably more than it did originally.

Did you get the part from Summerfords?

No Minispares I think would need to check my receipts.

Pretty sure it was this one, would be suprised if Somerford's is manufacturered by someone else.
