Make sure you also move the rubber insulating boot onto the exposed stud terminal on the new alternator and properly insulate it. That's a direct battery connection once fitted and easy to splash against the alternator body (earth) while working. The one that has already got a cover on the new unit is the phase terminal but the un-covered one is full alternator output.
