Sorry... but I am running the YOKOHAMA A032-R 165/70/10 on my 10x7 Gianni Potenza alloys as spec'd by Miniworld magazine, Peter Vickers and Yokohama themselves!

So i would be able to run 165 safely or would it be more wise to get 6x10" wheels and run 165 tyres ?

I've never had any issues at all with the combination I'm running. My car was built by Peter Vickers, Miniworld Magazine along with some of the very best people in the Mini business.
The guy who runs ML Motorsport was on the Island last year racing his fibreglass mini. He was running 10x7 alloys on A008 165/70/10 tyres. So just a few thoughts there!.....
Mikko's Wellers sound cool but then again I am a fan of the olde Weller Wheels! My dads clubman estate when I was a kid had nice white 10" Wellers on it so I'm probably a bit biased!

Try 6x10 but with a greater offset like these from Minilite and J.A. Pearce with 165 tyres?
My Japanese export spec. Minilite Mk 11 6x10 alloys with deeper dish ET-15 offset and fitted with Japanese Dunlop R7 Road/Race 165/70x10 tyres with the classic 1960's Dunlop CR65 tread pattern.
OR these very expensive 6x10 J A Pearce Engineering’s wheels with 165 tyres and optional spinners!

Looks like they are for Trailers or Caravans....but interesting that there is a 195 width section tyre in a 10" diameter.

Mab01uk they are some very nice rims! I love em both!
As I said before the Wellers are also very nice. I'd say it depends on what look your after.
HarrysMini it was Peter Vickers himself who spoke to Yokohama and it was their recommendation to run the Yoko 032-R 165/70/10. They said it was fine and that there would be no problems or issues. I checked this before I bought the car. As I said before I know people who race using this combination (e.g. Andy at ML), Bill Sollis also tested and did a shakedown of my car.
That being said there is always an optimum size wheel for a tyre and for a 165 tyre a 5.5 inch width rim is probably it's optimum with a 7 inch width rim being at it's limit.
I'm going to leave this point here. I don't want this thread to degenerate.
Minicooperr can you post any pics of your car up. I'd love to see it and then if the Wellers would suit it. They do sound good.

This is what i got from yoko
"Good Afternoon.
Thank you for your enquiry into A032's . The 4-5.5J is the permitted, Best overall would be 5j .
The widths you are looking at are not recommended by Yokohama .
Hope this helps clear things up for you.
