Hi all!

I was just wondering waht are the pro's and cons of an oil stop leak additive?

I'm currently doing the last bits to get the mini to the MOT in Belgium, and I think it is forbidden that the engine leaks oil.

He doesn't leak a lot though, only at the

GEARBOX SPEEDO HOUSING FRONT COVER

and the selector shaft.

Its only a few drops when standing still ( dont know if he will leak while running).

What are you're thoughts?

Selector shaft is a hour job or so worth doing that with the mini spares leak fix kit

Did it with the kit, just keeps leaking.. Must be a little groove , but I can live with that leak ( verryyyyyy small) Speedo end is a bit bigger leak.. But don't know how hard to replace with the engine in the car really..

Dont bother with the addatives, they dont work from my experiences.

Clean off with brake cleaner, dry with cloth. take for mot. happy days.

There up there with snake oil and Holts Piston Seal haha. Waste of money from my time in the trade.

The old story of "If it aint leaking its empty"

My 51 year old mini is somewhat incontinent, I wipe the most of it off for MOT and have a drip tray under it in the garage.

The entire underside is coated in an oily haze that obviously is distributed as I drive along - automatic self rustproofing, amazing technology that modern cars lack, although my Discovery seems to work on the same principle  :proud:

Yeah, I always heard that a mini that doesn't leak isn't a real mini.. :)

My girlfriends dad has a defender and a discovery, both 'sweating power' also ;) I'll learn to live with the little leaks :)

Do you think it will keep leaking while running too? Because on one of my dads car it only leaked after running ( hot oil etc) but would it also leak while running then? :P

Cheers mateys!
