Hi all,

I have lived in Huddersfield for just over 3 years now and have owned my mini for almost a year. I have seen some great Mini's in the area and have always wondered why there wasn't a more local club.

So I am thinking of starting one up giving Mini owners to help each other out, share some experiences and of course have some runs out into the surrounding sites.

 

So I was wondering if there was anyone that is local to the area whether they would like to just add their thoughts or even if you're not in the area!

Any advice would be really appreciated.

As said I have seen a number a great minis in Huddersfield, including a great yellow mini with black striped, a lovely red cooper with white stripes and a Silver mini everyday for the past few weeks.

Hopefully a few people will be interested and then when I see these beauties in the future I shall leave them a note to join.

I live in North Leeds now but am from Huddersfield and have often wondered the same. I'd definitely try to make any meets you arranged if you do get a Huddersfield club off the ground.

Thanks for your responses, great to see some interest in it. 
John - Will keep you in the loop about any runs, will make a Facebook group or something similar soon just toe keep people updated.

Midas - What do you do at the uni? I am currently on placement there in the central services building and will be going into my final year in Computer Games Design in September. Again will keep you in the loop about things.

Just a note to the few minis i listed in my first post - The lovely yellow and black mini is up for sale on eBay =[ If I had the space/money I think there would be an addition to the family...

Hi all,

Just an update on this, I have now created a Facebook group just to arrange everything a little nicer. If you don't have Facebook then just throw a post in here that you are interested, and I will put anything important on here like meets and runs. But please do join the group - start up the community, plus will no a little more on number then too!

Anyone outside of Huddersfield feel free to join also!

Hopefully we can set up a run soon!

I'm from Keighley but work in Halifax. I use my Mini to commute so if you're around that way you may see me. I always flash my lights to other Mini drivers...

Hello again all!

So I thought it may be time to have a run and see how many minis we can get for the first meet.

I have actually contacted the Huddersfield stadium to see if we can use one of their car parks on a day they do not have an event, just as a starting point. Believe it or not they replied! - And are really willing to help! When I wrote the email to them I looked at their event calendar and opted for the 24th August (Hopefully to get a run before the summer disappears). But I need to know a general idea for numbers of the run and a time that we will be there. 

So Sunday 24th August - 11:00am?

I did also say that it would be weather permitting, as with the weather we have had at the moment is a little unpredictable.

So I need to know around about numbers, if you are interested please post here that you would like to attend.
And no you do not need to be from Huddersfield the more the merrier! So if you would like to attend tell your mini owning friends! And hell if you have a friend with another classic car then I don't see the harm if they want to come on a run!

I am currently working on a route, Starting at the stadium. Basically I am thinking for each run we take a different route. So the first route I am looking at the North eastern area of Huddersfield and surrounding areas. At the moment the run distance is about 20 miles down some really nice country roads, with about 50 mins estimated time to complete. Obviously this is not set in stone so could make it longer or shorter but thought it was good for the first run.

Any queries let me know, would love to get back to the stadium ASAP, so please leave your responses if you would like to attend!

Great stuff Andrew! Will put you down! Hoping to get a decent number for the first run.

The post code is - HD1 6PG - According to the stadium with that postcode it should take you on the correct side of the stadium where we will be. It is using the main entrance to the stadium car park, so if you end up next to Odeon Cinema you'll be on the wrong side!

Anyone else interested? Please let me know, obviously if you have friends and their cars wanting to attend then just let me know the number including yourself

I am going to have to cancel this meeting for the time being as haven't received much interest.
