My friend who did his used the gear set from (if I recall right) a Honda CBR1200 and was able to incorporate a reverse gear which again, if I recall right, was a stock 3 Synchro reverse idler gear.

Does this cool conversion have a reverse?

Luv it, nice work and complete respects for the time and effort involved and the reluctance to do any more!

The gearset in this is a Honda VFR, the plan is for track use, but it is still technically a road car. But in all honesty it is not very easy driving it on the road. I'm hoping to get past the 300bhp mile stone, but we'll see...I'd be very pleased if it held up to that!

This has got a reverse, which was an absolute nightmare to do, and took longer than the rest of the box to do. It is air actuated, so I have made an air pump to run off the standard mechanical fuel pump lobe to charge up a air reservoir.

Whoa,,,,,  Yeap, I see hours and hours (probably even days) just in this one aspect.

Thanks man, seriously cool. And HUGE (as in all the issues to sort and resolve). Awesome stuff, really enjoying this thread.

Also, thanks for sharing with us of the lesser.

Wow, that gearbox is a work of art, I would be very interested in more info if you were to put together a thread about it! ;) I have just built a sccr 4 speed box but seeing that is making me want to strip it down and modify to a similar system, although that's just the tinkered inside me that fancies a challenge :P

Here is the build thread....gearbox starts at page 22 and goes on to about page 60 odd, so grab a brew before reading.

Well, thanks mate...... you got me in such do-do today, I started reading through that and,,,,next thing, 3 hours gone,,,,, and the bloody missus pacing the floor,,,,,,,

Words can't nearly put all that in to perspective. I've done some 'mad things', made bits and bobs, bits that can't be bought anymore, 'better then factory' etc etc, but that all totally and completely fades to nothingness after reading through and seeing what you did, all the problems, challenges, issues and set back yet you preserved and it seems you got there with it.

I did a special gearbox a couple of years back, which felt like an epic 'journey' but again, your build here, not just the gearbox, is HUGE.

Awesome work and just super, really super.

Well done.

Thanks, as you could probably see it all started off looking quite a straight forward conversion and then it grew arms and legs!

I was originally hoping to put a kit together for these, but I'm sure you can appreciate that it's not a simple kit to make. Lol

The car is slowly getting finished off now, so testing will hopefully be just after the new year.
