If you're worried about gearbox strength I would contact Bill Richards and ask what he's running in his 190bhp KAD engined Clubman.

Quaife sell a type 9 sequential box that if the bell housing is modified says it will fit the minor a series.

You did not dream it. It was one of them and that metro that got me to go to University.

So that is back in 96/97 that one was first being developed and I was after one. Not for the strength but for the closer ratios.

Many thanks Tuppers for finding and posting up these photos.

I 'doff my hat to the guy(s) who did this conversion, while I have heard of a few of them, I've never seen one. I sincerely respect the planing, design, blood, sweat & tears that have gone in to this. I would have little doubts that it would withstand 190 ponies on a continuous basis.

Cool, really cool.

A good mate of mine did a 6 speed conversion, with a sequential shifter a while back, while he got it to the 99.95% completed point, he got cheesed off with the whole mini scene and so it was never fitted to a car.

This is the one I've built, it's now in the car, ready for its shakedown run....when I finish building the car!

Video is a bit rubbish, I did have one of it shifting on the electronic button, but that seems to have disappeared now.

You can have a flappy paddle with one of these shifters. But I quite like having a stick shift so I bust a shifter that is electro mechanical, I'll no doubt fit some buttons on the steering wheel at some point so I've got the option of both, if it all holds together that is! Lol

Looks amazing how did you build the selector shaft?
Would you produce any to sell?

The selector drum is the standard bike one, but modified slightly. It has a needle roller bearing carrier on the drop gear end and a bronze bush in the centre web, you can see the two oilers on the top. It is quite a complex setup. I will dig some pictures out, if you are interested?

With regards to making them to sell, I think it is quite unlikely due to the amount of time/parts that need machining up. To make it viable a new gearbox casting and transfer housing would really be needed, as these are both heavily modified to suit.

Shame. I'll be interested to see it in action though.  What bike gearbox is it you've used?
