As above, bought a 2003 zafira dti to use as a work car, the turbos not boosting, I had someone had a look at it, who claimed the turbo was siezed, so I got another one and put that on, but found nothing wrong with the other one, span freely so I'm not sure how he got that idea.

Then I had it plugged in and the fault codes cleared, one was egr valve, went like a rocket once the codes were cleared. ended up changing the egr valve as the turbo kept "switching off", but when I switched the car off and on again, it was fine, but I haven't been able to get the turbo to work again for over a week.

Tried another egr valve off a car that was known as a good one, cleared the fault code for the egr valve again, still nothing.

Anyone any ideas what could be wrong with the damned thing? I've already spent a fair amount of cash on it and don't want to spend anymore on it changing random things... Thanks, Sam

It did has an air mass flow meter code in there as well, the first time I had it plugged in and the codes cleared, but that one hasn't come back up since. I'm gonna get it plugged in again on the way home from work.

Can you flash the Zafira rather than plugging in for OBD2 codes?

No codes last night, all the sensors looked to be doing as they should, on live readings. We discovered no vacuum to be coming from the vacuum pump, but changed that, got vacuum now, but still not getting any boost. When revving the engine, the pipe going from the intercooler to the inlet is sucking itself in, rather than out, as I would have thought it should be?

It's going to end up getting scrapped soon as it's starting to annoy me now. I'm trying to save using the fuel I do in the fiesta and keep the miles off that.

Egr valve. I had the same happen to my astra the aa man said it were turbo. I took egr out and cleaned it. Still no joy. There is an electrical solenoid/stepper motor on the end and all the cleaning of the airways will not make that work. Try to borrow a known working unit to try it. Normally dead easy to change. So AA man totally wrong and could of been expensive. I ended up getting a genuine part of fleabay for £55. Absolute bargain. Hope this helps buddy.

My fault code was low inlet pressure or something like that.

I've tried an egr valve off a car I drove before I tried it on mine. I can see it working when the engine is revved too.

If not the egr valve then I would be inclined to say either intercooler or intercooler pipes to and from the turbo.

I assume this is the 2.0 DTi engine and not the Fiat sourced 1.9 CDTI?

The pipe sucking in is blocked air filter / intercooler or pipework. You need to sort this!

The wastegate isn't opening, due to vacuum problems.

Map sensor blocked ?
If you haven't got any vac it won't open the turbo.
Sometimes you won't get a code with a faulty map/maf.
Have you manually worked the turbo with the revs up ??
