Suspension is normal rubber cones and shocks - you'll struggle to get coilovers with a weak enough spring.
No need for hydraulic handbrake as the back end is so light. However there is no reason not to use one as it is easier on the arms! I've even seen people with servo assited hydro handbrakes!
To start off there aren't really any special modifications just get the car light and everything working well. Later you can go to power steering, modified racks, 2 speed gearboxes etc.

I came here because of your answer to my "Anyone Autotest?" thread and your fighting machine is certainly lean and green and very impressive!

what thickness of sheet did you use on the boot floor, and how is it bonded, was going to do mine in steel but imagen this saves a lot of weight in comparison

Can't remember the thickness, but it's fairly thin - maybe 1mm
Fixed with Sikaflex and pop rivets.
