Finally sorted out the sound proofing in the front footwells. When those bumbos decided to try and steal my wheels many moons ago, they didnt jack it up at the sub-frames, they just whacked jacks underneath and bent my floors a bit. This cracked the soundproofing. It wasn't really a big deal because i was going to carpet over it at some point, but from where my doors leaked for a while water got underneath, so i had to pull it all up.

Took forever to sand all of the little odd bits of sound proofing out, then sand all of the rust off. When i got round to painting i couldnt be bothered to mask anything off, as long as it didn't go on the dash i wasn't bothered, since a lot of that stuff will be cleaned and painted when the engine is in and i've only got the interior to do.

Stripped the engine down some more, pleased i decided to re-build it now, as there is quite a lot of scoring on the bearings. Piston rings seem ok though, but i'll still be changing them.

I'll hopefully get the crank out when i have some free time at the end of next week, and i'll be able to get a better idea of it's condition then. Also took the cam out and i'll be getting some photos of that up later, as it does look pretty worn.

Non engine wise this is the next job in the list. I want to go lower on the front but i'm limited by the A panel, so the grinder will have to come out.

Also been stock piling parts for the jobs ahead, I might upload those later.

Haven't updated this in a while, not much has really been worth posting, however i did make a start on my ally door cards i've been meaning to make, and also did a few little accessories.

The rear cards are finished, i just haven't put them in yet, as waiting on some insulation to put behind them, also got some walnut door cappings to go on too. Quite like the beaten-up look of the door cards hopefully they will age nicely.

Also made some shell wheelnut covers. Not sure if i'll keep these, was more of a spur of the moment kind of thing. Saw them on some VWs and thought it was a good idea at the time, took forever to stretch them out to fit over my 19mm nuts. ;D

Temporary carpet in for the up-coming winter.

It's a £30 something carpet, but it fitted pretty well.

I think the door cappings finish the door cards off nicely.

Now thats done i can focus on the engine re-build without too much distraction.

Cheers, another question how do you know they are the Motorsport version? As they look different to the ones I know.

Did some research around, using the wheel dictionary, and also managed to find an old post on retro rides of a sale couple of years back. I noticed how the valves were inset into the dish, opposed to being present on the lip of the wheel. They were also bare metal, so silver all over when i had acquired them, which was how they looked on the wheel dictionary. When i took them to be re-manufactured at Pristine wheels i asked about them, and they confirmed they were the old motorsport series wheel, which had the thicker mounting face (using 62mm front studs and 78mm rear studs to get enough thread engagement), and took sleeve nuts opposed to the more recently produced revolution motorsport wheel which takes tapered nuts.

Then they must have done two versions as mine are not quite the same. Your spokes are "flat" mine are curved.

Need to fine a PC to put a photo up as adding pics with a iPad ain't working.

They've done a lot of versions over the years. It seems every few years or so they bring out a new motorsport wheel. The newest ones out at the moment have those curved spokes but take tapered nuts. Perhaps yours if of the previous generation before they switched to the tapered nut type.
