changing them is fairly simple. a haynes book helps but basicaly you do this.

crack the wheel nuts a turn.

jack up the car.

remove the wheel.

remove the two screws that hold the drum in place. might be rusted in so you mioght have to drill them.

remove the drum itself. if your on the back wheels make sure you taken the hanbrake off.

then you have the two shoes and a set of springs. make a note of were the springs are. remove the shoes. i use a scredriver to leaver them out. then unhook the springs.

once both the shoes are off. clean eveything with some brake cleaner and put a little copper slip on the backplate were the new shoes may rub. while your at it check for fluid around the cyinder. if on the front wheels then check both. on the rear there is only 1.

start putting the new shoes on. hook the sprin into on and then on to the other. only have one in place. then use a screw driver to leaver it back in. or use a good pair of side cutter to hold the spring and pull it into place.

if your on the back braks then don't forget to put the handbreak bit back in. it fits into a slot on each shoe.

on the rear or front back the adjusters off. the rear its just one ajuster that bose both. on the front its two in a weird shaped hole. just back them off.

clean the drum and the new brakes with a suitable cleaner. if the drum is in C**p condition or badly worn replace it. then put the drum back on. if it dosen;t go on eaisly don't force it. take it off and play with the adjuster some more.

put the screws that old the drum on back in....if they survived.

then adjust the adjuster till they lock on. then back them off till the drum can spin freely.

thats about it......i think.

or

buy a haynes book and make life simple :(

Dont forget to slacken the adjuster off all the way before you try and remove the drum :(
