Look at any modern car, performance variants almost always have updated brakes over their less sporty versions even if the less sporty one is a 100kg+ heavier diesel.
I've been in a handful of situations where I've had to come to a quick stop in a modern car and thought would my mini have stopped?? More often than not the answer would be no!

So you go through all the effort of a turbo conversion to just use it exactly the same as a standard 1275. What a waste of time.Just because you can go faster it doesn't mean you are going to go faster, or are you saying better brakes because of the extra weight of the turbo?!really?Why?Don't forget the most important thing if you are going to go turbo, you will need a good set of brakes.
If you can go faster you really need to think you will need to stop quicker (not all the time) but you will have moments. No i am not saying the little extra weight of a turbo conversion is the reason for better brakes.
I am in no way saying go spend loads on a new set of 4 pots because it isn't always needed but i am giving good advice to somebody. I have a fair bit of experience with a turbo mini.
Anyway back to giving "good" advice please and not being the typical TMF
Exactly what I thought, if everyone was just going to stick to all of the speed limits then why do people like upgrading their cars or buying faster ones, some people may argue and say they want to get up to 70 quicker but 3/4 of the time that is not the case, you are upgrading the car to get it up to 70 faster and 70+
If you've bought a faster car or upgraded your own you are most likely going to want to test it out and see how much it can pull. So yes, upgraded brake setup is a very good idea because I wouldn't want to run a mini that had 125bhp upwards with drums all round !

Hehehehehe...there is always a lot of hypocrisy surrounding this. I used to be a member of one of the Merc forums and one of the old farts had some monster of an AMG merc but would always get involved in speeding debates saying just how irresponsible speeding was - well what the bloody hell did he buy a car so fast that it would suck the fillings out of your teeth for then?
As an aside is there not a benefit to upgrading your brakes to the best you can have at a reasonable cost whatever the power of your car? Agreed the UK insurance industry is so corrupt that you'd probably pay a premium increase for upgrading you braking setup over standard.
