Hi,

The haynes manual has two lots of torque settings for the ball joints. I am trying to shim them up but key to that is the right torque setting obviously.

I don't know if you can see it but the manual page in the photo but it has two entries and I don't know which is right.

It says Swivel hub balljoint dome nut and Swivel hub balljoint to suspension arm.

I *think* I the torque should be 75lbf ft - do you agree?

Thanks,

Rod

Ball joint domed nut is on the hub(this retains the BJ)
The second one is for the nut which goes on the threaded portion of the bj

For the ball joint dome nut 70-80lbs and for the ball joint swivel pin securing nut (ie the one that holds the ball joint to the suspension arms) 30-40 lbs, these are the settings I have always used so hitting the in the middle 75 and 35lbs.

No problem, happy to help! If you are reshimming, keep your old shims :)

Yeah - good idea. Excpet that I didn't know that when I took them apart months ago :-(

I am trying to do it from scratch and its a pain. Thats why I asked this question because when I torque it up the whole thing just goes solid. So I thought I must have it wrong.

I will recheck everything tomorrow and try again.

Thanks,

Rod
