In the UK the S specification was a British Leyland Special Tuning kit. Consisting of Cylinder Head, twin HS2 carburettors and a boot badge , the S. This badge was sourced from the production Austin 1800 S (the land crab.

Cheers for that A-Cell, while I was aware of the ST Packs and Kits, I was quite unaware of the badging that went with them.

Since the badge was a current production item it was an easy thing for ST to do.

Yeah they did a similar thing here in production with the Mini S and the Mini SS (they were only a dress pack, not performance packs).

Another then?

Sorry for going OT, but IMO, the SA GTS was the best Mini Model made anywhere.

This thread needs more GT pictures ;)

Aust GT s allowed?

The S kit had twin HS4 carbs, not HS2. The reason being to keep the cost down. The kit came with a second carb and you used your existing one. It also included an exhaust manifold and a S type distributor.

The UK 1275 GT "S" Performance Kit was as follows

I have a copy of an original road test somewhere.

Also this is my GT

Here's my '79... someone dropped a metro engine in it at some point but the interior is mostly original. I really need to sort some new wheels out though

This is a review of the SA GTS as well as specs and road test results...

It was built with the SA block which has the oil filter mounted upside down at the top left of the motor.
