hey, i hope someone can help my poor little white mini!! she judders between 1000&2000rpm, when i replaced the head gasket last last year it stopped this for a little while then started doing it again, replaced plugs, leads and coil, abit better but not brilliant, hasn't got points & condenser as its electronic ignition, even does it when shes warmed up. i think its the head gasket but the compression is still up, any help would be grately appreciated! thanks alex

ok well this gets better, going along this mornin and put my foot down n it felt a little underpowered then smoke came into the car and out of the bonnet around where the coil is, i thought the head gasket had gone but still running on all 4! got to work lifted the bonnet, (dont really now what im looking for except for white stuff under the oil cap) but nothing, so i thought thats weird, took out the key n she caried on runnin!!

If it carries on running when you take the key out, then I believe it is overheating a fair bit. The same happened to Doms Cooper when his rad was so low it caused the engine to overheat.

If the compression is OK, and there's no mayo, then chances are pretty slim that it's a head gasket issue.

hmmm, I'd check the coil,... the smoke..... that's a mystery to me.

Only thing i can think of now is lack of water or perhaps a water blockage as above. Is the water/coolant deteriorated much in colour?
