Trying to get some quotes for shipping this back to Ireland. If I can get a good enough price I will keep it and take it home.

So far, going with a 20ft container, quotes are coming in at anything between $3,900 to $8000.

I work for a shipping company if this helps?

Finally got my sump guard folded up, had to chop a few bits off to let it fit better, drill 4 holes in the subframe and bolt it on.

Gave it a couple of coats of paint beforehand, the gold that I had intended on do on the wheels before getting them powder coated.

Think it turned out nice considering it was a piece of scrap 3mm sheet!

That looks sweet! How does it attach to the body/subframe?

Bolted onto the subframe with four 1/4" x 5/8s bolts.

Made a layout of a 20ft container out in the backyard, figuring out how much room we would have to play with.

16515385012_05eda15dcf_b.jpg

Seemed to alot of room for everything we wanted to take home.

Then made a few more phone calls to get more quotes. Each company came back around the same, between 6 and 8k, with the exception of one at 4k, with a company with not much reviews.

We sat down and done some number crunching, figuring out what we would be heading home with money wise, pros and cons.

Option A is sending the mini home along with a good bit of stuff we would like to keep, but that would mean money would be tight and our plan for buying a house would no longer be viable. Getting cars would eat into the savings, so jobs would be needed immediately.

Option B is selling the mini, along with the everything we have here, go home and get cars sorted, start looking for work and find a job we want to do, get the house buying underway and be able to live comfortably for a while.

While I would really like to keep the mini, its just not an option that is financially viable.

So, the final decision is it has to be sold. But, at least there cheaper in Ireland for my next project!

Shame it has to be sold but that's the way it goes.

Very best of luck to you with your move.

Hope everything works out well.

Got the drums machined at work today, had a bad vibration under braking. Took a skim off each, one was definitely warped but not overly bad.
All back on now and all adjusted, took it out for a spin and was pleasantly to have a nice firm pedal and good stopping power.
Also good to brake without the car shaking!

Also sorted out the speedometer. Was reading 120 at 50 to 60, but was keeping perfect odometer readings (tested it with satnav). Cleaned it out around the magnet parts, pulled out the speedo cable, cleaned and greased it and reassembled.
It reads about right now, but the needle bounces ie, when going 50, it will vary between 50 and 55, same at other speeds, it will bounce up an extra 5k.

Any ideas?

If the speedo cable isn't lubricated properly it can cause it to jump around. Just make sure the speedo doesn't get any oil in it...

Thanks timmy, Ill drive it to work tomorrow and take the speedo back out and pump some grease into the tube. Then I'll clean out the speedo again with some brake  or contact cleaner.

Just been reading your thread over on ausmini, looks like its going ok so far!

Bonnet stick kept falling out of the plastic clip, tried to put a metal insert into it, melting it into place, but no joy.

Came up with a better solution...

16723958826_de2f74b700_b.jpg

Small bulldog clip, small chipboard screw and a square plastic fitting.

Holds it in pretty firmly, no more popping out and rattling!
