hey are those aussie spec front seats reclinable?

No, don't think so, they only tilt forward and then click into one position when you push them back.

Seems like the previous owner favoured subwoofers rather than body rigidness.

Started removing the rest of the interior and windows. I think I am goin to do it properly and get it soda blasted, no sense in doing a bodge job.

Need to refer to my haynes manual for advice on removing ignition barrel and door windows.

Starting the shopping list on minispares, window rubbers are on the list along with other small bits and pieces. Gonna try and do a bulk order to save on postage costs.

Got a good run at things today, almost there with the strip. Taking my time in doing it, rather than rushing and breaking stuff.

Rest of the windows came out. Fuel tanks came out after I had drained them both. Salvaged 20L of fuel, save that for the lawnmower!

Tidyed up the storage of the parts into a plastic box.

Bashed up fuel tank

And the other tank, pretty good condition apart from a small hole. Will get this welded during the week.

A bit rusty around the battery box, but all seems solid, so I'll treat that tomorrow.

My inital attempt at ripping out the headliner. Got distracted doing something else and forgot to finish.

14360475921_2be51ec474_b.jpg

Found my 1st rust hole today, about the size of a 1p coin.

Test fit of my plasma cut hinge bracket arms

I have got all the engine unwired, passenger side lights unwired, just need to do drivers side and I can remove the loom from the car.

Removed the bonnet pull too, someone had replaced this and installed it by cutting a 2" hole in the firewall to feed the handle through to the cabin, so I'll need to patch that.

Took the screwdriver to the bubble of rust on the passenger A panel. It eventually revealed a small hole after a few stabs. Doesnt look too bad, but I think I'll need to take a piece off to see whats underneath.

Small hole on the inside passenger sill, was bunged up with silicone.

Ripped the rest of the roof liner down, marked the bows on the ends to know which goes where when I comes to rebuilding.

Had some fun getting this radiator drain plug out.

Also started drawing up the switch panel design.

Pretty happy with the design so far, L.E.D for hazard flasher is a bit too big, need to find a smaller pilot light I think. Design also may change depending on how fine the laser cutter can etch.

Public holiday here today so got another bit done. Continued on stripping bits. Eventually got the heater/fan out. Then got the steering column out aswell as the wiring loom.

Struggled to get the wiper motor boxes out, bolts were seized. Had to use a bit of brute force to get them out!

Soaked some items in white vinegar to see how good it is at removing rust. Turns out its pretty good. Ashtrays from the rear were destroyed with rust when I took them out, let one soak for 3 days and now its like new!

Looks like a LHS tank that's been modified to fit. Wonder if it would be worth doing that to my car - without the bashing though, modifying it properly.

Interesting solution to a problem and adds some uniqueness to the cars. Although that RHS tank looks to be a modified LHS one - more bashed up than "factory" and the relocation of the filler neck too.

Yes, thats what I was thinking, looks too bashed up to be factory work..

I have to get that better looking one welded, then Ill try and smooth the dented one out, make it look a tad better. I can get them pressure tested here at work after fixing them up, so then I know there not leaking. When I got the car, the inside stank of petrol, so hopefully when I get it all back together, the smell wont return (as long as I clean up everything before reinstalling it)

Haven't got much done to the car over the passed few days, been busy with work and not getting home until its already dark. At the minute Im just shopping about for the best prices on spares, finding it hard to find front door window seals at non ridiculous prices, especially the 1/4 windows on the front doors...

May need to change my design for switch panel. Cant source an on-on-on in a toggle switch for a descent price, so may need to go rotary.

I just want to keep all switches looking the same, so if I can get a off-on-on rotary for my lights/wipers, on-off push for hazards/spots and a momentary for washer.

Haven't done much the past few days, was away for the weekend at the coast relaxing!

Done some small bits and pieces after I got back this afternoon. Washed and cleaned the headlight dishes then hit them with some etch. Ready to be sprayed black. Also cleaned up one engine stabilizer and cut a rotten part out of the bottom of the bashed up fuel tank. Cleaned the pedal box frame and left the spring in some vinegar to remove a bit of rust.

Plan for the week is to hopefully get a loan of an engine crane to get the engine out, then remove subframes and start cleaning them up.
