Pity about that RHS tank not fitting. Can't wait to see the wheels.

Rear seats in, seatbelts in and parcel shelf tidied up. Drivers seat belt on too.

Got the engine steadies in, had to drop the remote housing off its bracket as the engine was solid. It just came forward enough to get the 2 steadies on, then had to lever it down slightly to reattach the rear housing bracket.

The flash really shows up the red overspray, doesnt look so bad when your looking at it.

M/C's fitted and all plumbed, look at that spaghetti behind it, need to sort that tomorrow..

Tires arrived, so hopefully wheels will be ready to pickup tomorrow and then get the tires fitted and balanced.

Got solenoid on, battery cable is just a few inches short, so need to take off the covers and move it up a bit.

Decided to paint the badge red, just the inner bits,

Had a good look at that right hand tank, to figure out why it wouldnt fit like it did before. Just needed a little heat and a hammer in a few spots and it fits again. Just need to attach the tie down straps and plumb it in.

Heres how its sitting this evening, getting closer! Wont be on the road til New Year i reckon, as everywhere will be closing up for holidays, but at least it will be done ready to go! (fingers & toes crossed, pretty hard to type now! :) )

Love the red badge, very personal touch and goes well with the colour scheme. DId aussie minis come with rear seat belts or is that a requirement to be able to register it in modern times?

Got the wheels back today, all nice and white.

Got them home and noticed there was no weights on any of them, quick phone call and turns out the fella who done thought they were for a trailer! Luckily its only a minutes drive, took them back and 10mins later they were done.

Fitted the RHS tank, took a bit of jiggling but its sitting nicely know, bit of a pain to get the neck seal on, had to put the seal on the car, then pass neck through were as other side was put neck through then push the seal in around it.
Battery cables and spare wheel sitting in boot now. Just need to put the boot lid back on.

Drivers seat is in

15867917870_681ef55247_b.jpg

Used some sticky backed cable tie bases to tidy the fuel line and keep it secure. We'll see how long they stay on, probably gonna need to sikaflex them into place.

16055216305_88a7abf149_b.jpg

Brass t-piece to join them together.
15432930704_0aae9b12a8_b.jpg

Need to touch up a bit of the underseal were I welded a piece into the seat base/back panel.

The missus wanted to help so we bled the clutch and made a start on the brakes. Fronts bled ok, but I think the rear cylinders are seized as cant get them to bleed. There is fluid coming from the pipes as I loosened them off, so will take of the rear drums tomorrow. Need to do the rear bearings and new brake shoes also.

Those wheels are really white! At least you've got drums all round so they won't get too dirty. I'm a fan of the Contessas haha

Thanks Timmy. As you can probably see from older pictures, the lips were polished, but had a bit of gutter rash, decided to ditch the polished lip and considering the amount of time it would have taken to sand down each spoke, in and around the spoke and then the rear, wouldn't have been worth the effort, and wouldn't have got as good results.

At least the powder coating will be easy to keep clean, hard wearing.

I had my eye on a 5th rim at a show, but was too slow at going to get it, but at least the steel rim has a decent tire that will be good for a spare now, wasn't too sure if a 165 was going to fit on a 4" rim, but it does, just.

What is sikaflex (some sort of glue)? Also really nice idea to colour match the spare wheel with the 4 wheels. I must admit I like the idea of having 5 wheels rather than 4, so that the spare is identical.

Would it not be possible to weld metal brackets that brace the lines?

Those wheels done in white really suit the car now, so much better than the white.

With bleeding the rear brakes when a pressure release valve is fitted, open the bleed nipple, press the pedal down slowly, close the nipple, release the pedal and repeat. It took a while to do on my brother's Clubby, but we got the fluid to come through. If the pedal is pumped, the valve closes from the pressure and won't allow much fluid through. Try bleeding it in that manner, if you have''t already, before taking everything apart.

Gave this a go, no joy, knocked off drum and inspected cylinders, so much rust. Took them off and cleaned the up, rubbers and internals look OK, reassembled them and just about to put new shoes on, so we'll see how they go.
