Why don't the lights line up exactly with the chrome trim, I found this on my car and figured it was just supposed to be like that.

Be careful using foam between the arch trim and Wing because if the foam gets wet and stays wet, it will encourage rust to set in behind the arch.

Looking lovely though!

A bit more done today, trimmed the bare A pillars with a bit of grey vinyl, better than black and red overspray!

Got the wiring back thru the mouse hole and got the headlights wired up again. Had to replace the H4 connectors as old ones had fallen apart.

Got the sun visors and rear view mirror in, bit tricky to find the holes.

Almost lost the passenger side rear window, had opened it up to put the rest of the screws in the hinges when I seen it starting to slip out of the surround, My sikaflex repair didn't hold, but managed to get a few screws into it so its all good again.

Put the new antenna on the wing, existing hole was way to big so had to cut up a big washer to let me support it correctly.

Got the drivers door lock and handle back on, what a fiddly job that was! At least I know how to do the passenger side now.

I can see from this photo, Ill need to push up the grille in the middle, its running down each side to the center, rather than straight across.

@Ben - its closed cell foam, so it doesn't absorb water, so shouldn't be an issue.

@ Vinay - Dont know why its like that, its kinda the same on the other side.

Really like the look of the front end all built up. I'll say it again, great choice in colour.

Ok, so front screen is in and locked in place. Boy that was though going. Its just awkward, leaning over to try and reach the middle then trying to keep pressure on the fillet to force it in. At least its done now.

Onto the drivers door, got the windows in, door lock and interior handle all in too, the only part I'm having trouble with is the outer seal on the wind-up window and the chrome strip. Got the inner felt and chrome strip on fine, but just cant see how to put the outer ones on.

16017136105_5ef70aa953_b.jpg

Had to adjust the latch to get the door to close nice and tight.

16016459972_05ecd6c8a5_b.jpg

Old door cards weren't overly bad, so bad on they go...

16017154025_f357edb97d_b.jpg

Got the passenger door locking mechanism on too, but the actual lock isnt the same as the drivers side, so the key doesnt work in it. It locks ok from the inside though.

Onto the passenger windows, put them in place then noticed the inner ribbed panel was away from the door at the bottom, so when you would wind up the window, it would flex and not let the glass go up.

Ive pumped some sikaflex in behind it, see if that will hold it, otherwise I don't know how I'm going to sort it as to weld it now  would probably damage the paint?

Not very functional I know, but better than leaving a big hole in it!

We'll see how the rib part is tomorrow after the sikaflex cures, hopefully it holds.

That scoop looks a lot better in body colour. Two questions: 1. What are you going to do about the panel covers at the rear now that you've fitted the windscreen? 2. What aerial are you using?

Havent figured that out yet, will get some white card tomorrow, and try to shape it to fit snugly between the seals, then there is a lip at the top I can wedge it behind, then some folds at the bottom to allow me to glue it to the parcel shelf.

The aerial is just this one off minispares.

That should work just fine. Keen to see how you get on with that.

I was looking at those aerials and was unsure. I'm looking at going twin tanks like yours, but the aerial hole is at the back, right above where the second tank will go so will probably have to go for a non-retractable.

Thanks guys.

Sikaflex worked a treat, that inner rib is pretty solid now. Got the window and quarter vent in, just need to put on the outer seals, trim and door card and that will be another job done.

Got the front to rear brake pipe fitted and battery cable. Fitted the remote gear lever housing, fitted it properly rather than tek-screws which is how it was held on before.

Missed my minispares delivery, I was working out the back and didnt hear the postie knocking. Picked it up this afternoon, seat belts, steering drop bracket, steering column bushes and clutch MC.

Have disassembled the steering column, ready to be painted and cleaned up, then I'll fit the new wheel, drop bracket and rack to body seal in one go.

I have also put the old exhaust back on, I'll use this for now, but planning on getting a new one when its all complete.

Steering column painted and rebuilt, went to local engine builders to get a 1" 5/16 socket in 1/2" drive, nothing, only had an impact socket in 3/4" drive and a 1/2" to 3/4" adapter. Was going to come to about $70 for a one off need, but he let me borrow one from their workshop for a few hours. You don't find many places like that too often!

Got steering wheel on and tightened, put it back in the car along with new drop bracket. Just need to put the front seat in and find the best position then I'll tighten it all back up.

Clevis pins and split pins have been fitted to the brake and clutch pedals, horrible job having to lie in such an awkward position, then trying to get your hands into a usable position without popping them out of your shoulder joints! Leaning on the cross channel doesn't help much either!

Broke the brake M/C to the T-piece pipe, so need to get one made up tomorrow.

Secured the handbrake cables back in place and fitted the rear carpet and speaker board. Tested to make sure all wiring was still attached once I had it in place, think its going to sound pretty good. I have lined the heel board with sound deadening, so should be a bit more bass out of it.

I have made a list of things that need to be done, in order that they need to be done, now just have to follow it and stop starting one job and going off doing another when I'm only half way through the first one!

No pictures today, not really much to show, hopefully some tomorrow!

Never actually seen aussie door cards. Is that a speaker? Also does that box thing contain both the locking and the opening mechanisms? Also your car looks amazing :)

no mate, thats an aluminium kick panel. It just helps protect the paint on the door bin when you swing your legs out of the car.

Yes, the interior handle has the lock and opening lever in one. Heres a better angle. The pillow embossed part is for the opening, spring loaded so it sits back into place when you let go. The locking lever pulls back towards the opening lever to close off the gap, so you cant open the door unless you unlock it first.

If you get stuck again needing a big socket I've found truck spares shops have the big ones for pretty cheap. I got a deep one for doing the ball joints and it was under $20. You can't be too far from being finished now?

Yeah getting pretty close to finishing now Timmy.

Got a new brake line made up at a local automotive shop. Also picked up a heater tap, some hose clamps and 1/4" fuel line.

Got the brake lines and clutch line all plumbed up, fuel line is plumbed to pump, just need to plumb in tanks and pump to carby.

Also ordered 2 tyres,

Tried to paint the rims, but got some strange reactions from the yellow paint. Started cracking, looked a right mess.

Popped down to tyre place and got them to knock off the tyres, then took them to the local powder coating company. There doing a batch of white tomorrow morning, so hopefully I'll have them back by friday.
New tyres have to come from Brissy, so will probably get here tomorrow afternoon, then I'll get them fitted to the rims on Friday.

Cant get that right hand tank to fit in properly, it wasn't fitted very good beforehand so I'm just going to leave it off. It was pretty bashed up and rusty anyway. Just going to put a fake neck with the filler cap stuck in place to avoid accidentally trying to fill from that side.
