I have had a tyre resealed on my 2002 Mini Cooper, the flat tyre warning light was on. The local tyre dealer just removed and resealed the tyre. However the warning light continues to flash. My car has conventional tyres fitted, not runflat. How do I cancel the flashing warning light?

As above, you shouldn't get the message after you have reset it, if you do I would get it checked just to be sure there isnt air escaping from the tyre :)

Have you tried this? Mine is an R55 (same as an R56 but a clubman) so its different but it's in the computer somewhere no need for bmw to reset it unless you cant get it to reset using the normal procedure.

If that does not work then the person who removed/refitted the tyre did it in the wrong place, its very easy for the bead to damage the sensor.

Although not primarily a Mini2 forum, i'll have a go at answering. I have had to reset this before on my mums Mini2, so i think i remember.
The sensor most likely needs resetting. Start the engine, but stay in neutral. There should be a button under your handbrake that looks like a Tyre with a (!) in the middle. Hold it down until the tyre warning light comes on, or if its on it should go off and then come on again. Then start to drive and the sensors will re-initialise (light go out). If this doesnt sort it, you may need to go back to the dealer to have the sensors reset.

Seems as though a lot of people beat me to it! Wasnt too far off!

I dont think minis have them? Just works off the rolling circumfrence of the wheel.

This is the correct procedure on the first gen cars (2001-2006), but with reference to the last sentence the sensors can't be reset, only replaced (and they're not tyre pressure sensors). The runflat system on the UK spec MINIs (some USA cars are different) is a passive system and doesn't actually measure the pressure at any point. There is no sensor within the tyre or the rim contrary to some of the lies told by tyre fitting garages. The system monitors rotational speed of the wheels using the ABS sensors. The speed of each wheel is measured, each one is then compared to the wheel on the diagonally opposite corner, and a rolling circumference is calculated and stored in the control module. In the event of a puncture the rolling circumference of the wheel in question is reduced and the rotational speed increases which is recognised in the control module setting off the warning light. If the loss of pressure is more than 40% you also get an audible alarm I believe. For all this to work the system has to be initialised following the procedure above and it can't be used to check that the tyres are inflated to the correct pressure.

http://www.ebay.co.u...s-/320658509405 then again? Nothing is simple is it? Whos right whos wrong?!
USA spec models, certainly in some states, have a direct monitoring system that has sensors on the valves, not in the UK though.
There are no monitors on the rim either. The only difference between a normal rim and a runflat rim is that the runflat rim has an additional "hump" which keeps the tyre on the rim when deflated. It's this hump that means that you can fit normal tyres to runflat rims, but can't fit runflat tyres to normal rims.

First generation MINIs do not have sensors on the valves. The use part of the ABS system that records the revolutions of each wheel. If one tyre deflates then the amount of rotations changes and sets off the warning light. It is possible to set the light off by frequently spinning the front wheels.
As said before , you need to switch on the ignition, depress the button located under the handbrake lever, wait for the light to go out, and then just drive off as normal. Even if one of your tyres is deflated the system will re-learn the rotations of each wheel so it is best to check your pressures if the light has come on before doing a reset of the system..
