Hello guys,

I've just been wondering whether anybody has used the silicone bath type sealant as an alternative to the rubber trim you normally get with wheel arches?

Thanks,

Matt

Even if you get it on neat the sealant may eventually effect the paint, I'd just use the trim its easy fitted and removed

The bit between the arch and the body? You can get different types, one thats like a P profile and one that kind of sits flush with the arch. I can never get the bead right with silicone in the kitchen and bathroom...ever..!

Don't do it, if you ever need to take the arches off in the future, the silicone will be a bastard to remove

sorta disagree here you can get some really good sealants, clear and coloured, they really are easy to apply, can see no real issue here I'd say try it and see,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,watta ya got to lose ?? just try and use a multi - purpose style sealant not bath style.

Hmmmmm I'm plumber by trade and the stuffs a bloody nightmare at the best of times it'll be all over the place and if it's left out in the sun it'll peel away on the edges and look terrible, I'd get a proper p trim or similar but it's you're car at the end of the day good luck ;)

Best stuff to use would probably be windscreen glue, but I'd use the rubber trim, you'll never get sealant to look even without using a million tubes to practise with!
