It,s a bit of an obscure question but, i was watching a re-run of Heartbeat ( yes, i am old before anyone comments !! ) on itv3 tonight and in this particular episode it revolved around a local hillclimb competiton.

One of the cars was a MK1 or 2 rally spec mini in red with a white roof, the reg No: was DJB 93B, it looked fantastic. Does anybody know of this car and if it is still knocking about or was the registration number a false one made just for that episode.

I am just curious.

Yes there was Domneon, but it never showed the mini going up the hill which was dissapointing.

Heartbeat was filmed in Yorkshire so i assume they may well have used the driveway to a mansion or possibly an actual hillclimb venue in that area, i am not up on hillclimbing so i have no idea of venues in that area.

That is an 'ex-Works' rally car with a great history. I think when that film was made it was owned by Phil Short, a very well-known rally co-driver in his day.

I think that DJB93B was the car that sold for over £100,000 at auction, but it might have been another ex-works car.

Heartbeat is filmed at Goathland just north of Scarborough, so the may have used the hill climb at Oliver's Mount

The episode is on ITV Player for the next month

The track is Olivers Mount, although they use a bit of artistic licence with the layout. The cars start in one direction but go up the hairpin in the other direction. Then they used different parts in the wrong order. Here's a shot of an Escort on the 2009 Roger Albert Clark Rally which shows the blue Time Keepers hut which is the actual start point when they hold the motorcycle races there.

Loved heartbeat, the 60's and 70's classic cars, great music and policing in a simpler more respectful time - rose tinted specs?

Me and my Dad love watching it. We do get told off when we spot errors in the vehicle choices however...
