Joiner... don't do it! In fact avoid anything in the building trade. Used to be good money but too many people out to undercut you. No prospects. And your body (knees, back and neck) will be knackered by the time you're 40.

I'm currently a gardener which is alright but doesn't pay well, there's just not much to be had around here unfortunately.
However, I want to go into the Motorsport industry, I want to study Motorsport Engineering at uni after I finish college next year. It's a bit of a career change as I was studying IT and was all set to start an apprenticeship at IBM.

Mechanical Engineer who specialised as an Automotive Engineer, working as a Design Engineer for a glue making company.
People who are looking at Motorsport and Automotive Engineering. You might be better doing a general Mechanical Engineering degree and then moving on to do an MSc in Automotive or Motorsport Engineering. When I did my MSc in Automotive Engineering myself like a lot of others on my course who started as mechanical engineers found the course easier than those that had gone straight into Automotive Engineering. If all else fails you still have your mechanical engineering degree to fall back on which can lead you into a lot of other industries e.g. aerospace, biomedical, product design, power stations, etc
