There isn't anywhere to fit a length of hose. The top of the float chamber just has a pin hole in it. I'll look for a Partco starter - the Mini Spares ones are dire.

The AA guy said there were 30 callouts for broken down Minis in Brighton yesterday. I saw one on the back of a truck at 6:30AM when we came out of the hotel so he didn't even make it Crystal Palace.

I think that's why the tickets are so cheap as there's a 50/50 chance you won't make it to the finish hahaha

We will return next year and see if we can do it in less than 7 hours next time.

Paul.

I run without sound deadening on the bulkhead, bonnet, front floors (chipped it all off) and you can happily have a conversation or listen to Five Live at 70mph. You got a crazy engine in there or something?

Sorry to hear you've had fuel pee-ing out all over the place. I had that in an MGB and a Capri I owned and it's such a horrible experience!

I had it in my old MGB when a fuel pipe split. I was sat in a traffic jam on a hot day when there was this horrendous smell of petrol, I even jokingly said to the guy next to me 'I hope that smell isn't me', half an hour when I got home there was a trail of petrol up the road behind me. It was a dodgy batch of fuel hose and had been replaced only six months before.

It's made even worse knowing all that money is being poured on the floor

The MG did alright in the end although I ended up hating it. The Capri unfortunately didn't survive the fuel + hot engine situation and burnt out :(

Glad to hear that it hasnt put you off next year Paul - some negative comments in other threads from people who didnt have any of the problems you did swearing 'never again'!

Sods law, but guess what I had in my spares bag?  Both High Temp and gasket sealants!  I was ahead of you though, and as someone said already - it might not have helped.

I thought it was great just seeing so many Mini's on the road at once!  Hardly see any when Im out and about in Glos.

Is saw your car at CP and I absolutely loved it. The car is a credit to you! I've had many minis but never a 76 (the year I was born). I'll have one, one day. Glad you made it back and I'm sure after a few teething problems are sorted out, it will see many more mini shows without any issues.

Bad luck pal, that's just the way of things sometimes though! Last year I broke down at least once on the way to every mini show/event I attended. (Why does it only ever happen on the way there though? I wouldnt mind a ride home on the back of a recovery lorry as much, if it meant that I'd already made it to the event and had my day out!)

I've found that you tend to learn through bitter experience about the spares you need to carry for use in the event of a breakdown. The trouble is that invariably you never breakdown with the same fault twice though, and so you end up carrying a small spares department around with you, but still never have the part you need!
