I might be being thick, but why dont you take the boot hinges off, squeeze the bumper on, then pop the boot hinges back on?

If the bumpers are non-genuine, throw them away. I've never, ever found a non genuine bumper which actually fitted. Hadrian bumpers (the ones you can always buy cheap at shows) are particularly bad.

The latest batch of genuine ones isn't too clever either apparantly, the tooling is old and needs re-furbishing since everyone insists on fitting stainless now which batters the press tools far more than any other steel does.

If it is not far off from sliding on you could always try and make the holes in the mounting lip that little bit bigger.

It seems to be missing by quite alot, must be at least 1 inch off. I can get one in but the rest just wont go anyware near.

Sounds the same as my non gen rear valace i've just got,

I would still give it a try, as no 2 minis are ever the same,
As even a small impact up the rear can cause all sorts of probs when it comes to fitting the bumper.

Slightly off topic, but where did you get the work done??

Oh and hope to see you round town in the not so distant future
