hey guys not been on for a while.....

someone at work has just shown me this and i thoiught i'd share it wth you all (if it hasn't been already)

go to http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/ and put in your mini make and modal to see how many are on the road and also how many are declared sorn.

we tried a few modals and i was surprised to see that the number of capris left in exsistance is in the 10's and the number of morris minors left is in the 1000's..!!!

so moral of the story if you want a rare car get a ford capri :)

p.s 10 points for the first person to post up how many MK1 cooper "s" are left

so lets do a poll then...

whos got the rarest mini - according to howmanyleft.co.uk which apparently is as aqccurate as it can be....

How accurate is the data?

As with all large government databases, there are errors in this dataset (especially since quite a lot of the data for older vehicles is based on paper records that were originally maintained by local authorities).

The most common error that crops up is vehicles that don't have exactly the correct model variant recorded on their V5 registration document. For example, a special editionPeugeot 205 Gentrymight only have Peugeot 205recorded on its V5. This can lead to some model variants appearing to be rarer than they actually are.

The key to understanding whether or not the data is accurate for your particular model is to check the model name on its V5 registration document. If it's not what you expect it to be, then it's likely that the DVLA statistics for that model aren't very accurate!

This happens more often with older vehicles, especially for those that would have originally been registered in the 1970s and earlier.

What does 'date for first registration' mean?

Date of first registration is the date that a vehicle first became known to the DVLA. This is usually the same as the year the car was built.

Imports will be counted under the year they were brought into the UK, and some restored classic vehicles will be counted under the year they were brought back on the road.

Where does the data come from?

The data is based on the "Vehicle licensing statistics" data published by the Department for Transport, which in turn is extracted from the DVLA's vehicle database.

The following tables of statistics are used:

  • VEH0120 Licensed vehicles by make and model, Great Britain, quarterly from 1994
  • VEH0121 Vehicles with a Statutory Off Road Notification by make and model, Great Britain, quarterly from 1997
  • VEH0124 Licensed cars by make and model, by year of first registration, Great Britain, annually from 2010
  • VEH0125 Cars with a Statutory Off Road Notification by make and model, by year of first registration, Great Britain, annually from 2010
  • VEH0126 Licensed cars by make and model, by year of manufacture, Great Britain, annually from 2011
  • VEH0127 Cars with a Statutory Off Road Notification by make and model, by year of manufacture, Great Britain, annually from 2011
  • VEH0160 Vehicles registered for the first times by make and model, Great Britain, annually from 2001
  • VEH0220 Licensed cars by make, model and engine capacity, Great Britain, annually from 2010
  • VEH0221 Cars with a Statutory Off Road Notification by make, model and engine capacity, Great Britain, annually from 2011

Been wanting to know for a while how many Rover Mini Cabriolets still around but never can get an exact match for them the closest I get is the Rover Mini Cabrio at 63 in 2013, (221 in 2001) which may be close as there were only about 300 made in the early 90s

Just found a Rover Mini Convertible as well 21 of these. So still not totally sure.

Just checked on the top of the tree for the BMW MINI...

The John Cooper Works World Championship 50, considering this was in effect a Mini Cooper S with every extra included and special paint retailing at £30K+ I am amased that there are 51 registered.

.... and the BMW MINI "Inspired by GOODWOOD" special edition which was hand finished at Rolls-Royce with sumptuous leather, wood interior and wilton carpets. It was based on a Cooper S but it had no bonnet scoop as it was deemed to ruin the understated looks....

Cost £41,000 and there are 61 registered in 2013.
