Hi there! Mr Shhtoopid again :D

I am thinking of purchasing a K&N Air Filter but I am unsure which carb I have on my '88 998cc Mini City E... I think it's a HS4 1.5" Carb but just to be sure how would I check this? How would I know it's not a HS6 or HIF44 possibly? Would I have to take off the air filter and measure the internal diameter with a vernier caliper?

Is there another way to check the diameter? After looking at some other posts http://www.theminifo...carb-do-i-have/ I just thought I'd check if there is another way to check :)

 I'm fairly sure it's a 1.5" but just in case aha :)

Here's a picture of the carb with its simple cone air filter and the engine bay :)

Also will I have to re-tune the carb/adjust the needle after fixing the K&N filter?

In addition to this, does the filter just simply bolt on? Do I have to undo the bot in the middle of the air filter to access the bolts behind the carb? Sorry for all of the questions! If they have been psoted here already I apologise, I may not have done enough research on the forum :(

Hi... There's no stupid questions .... Yes it looks like a hs4 carb....the way you can tell is the neck of the dash pot ( where you top up the oil under the black cap ) is a short compared to the hs2 carb which is long.... If you have a K+n style filter on now and it runs ok etc then changing to a k+n will be fine... To take it off ... Yes you do undo the single nut in the middle the take off the filter , there you will see the bolts going into the carb

Hi there!

Sorry to bring up the convo again but I found that the diameter of the hole is actually 1.4" not 1.5"? This is from my old carb which was replaced so I'm assuming it's the same carb.

Just wondering would the K&N Cone 1.5" 998cc Air Filter fit?

Thanks!

Sorry again!

:)

Kind Regards

Kapil
