Even if you are legally able to ride a moped, get some sort of lessons/CBT
Riding a bike is very different to driving a car.. For one you can't fall off a car.. Lol
I have a full bike licence but not road in years and when.. If I ever get another bike I will take a refresher...

I rode a 50cc on a car licence and paid 70 quid to insure it.
I am 32, and was riding it on a car licence (passed my test in 1999)

That's good to know, when was it and who were you with? I know someone who got insured over the phone without it as they said it was ok and all legal etc, once the policy started he got numerous letters saying they were going to cancel the policy unless he sent a copy of his cbt certificate!I rode a 50cc on a car licence and paid 70 quid to insure it.

As for the original question I'd ring the dvla.

Highway, which is part of Liverpool Victoria.
I had to scan and email them copies of my licence etc

im still not entirely sure you can ride a 50cc on your licence, but i am fully prepared to be put right on that.
however, i appreciate that money is tight, hence the moped thing, but for less than £100 you can do your cbt again, and you can ride a 125cc then, it will be much quicker, and much more fun, it will also open up the number of bikes available to you second hand.
my cbt is due to expire in a few months, but i insured my 125 for about £300 fully comp, it was a 6 month old CPI sprint, which is a classic cafe racer bike. i thought it was pretty cheap as i had never had a bike on the road before.

Even if your driving licence currently shows code 122, as long as you have passed your car test within two years of taking your CBT, you will not be required to renew the CBT in order to continue driving mopeds up to 50cc as a full driver.
There is no need for you to send your driving licence into us to have this code removed as long as you still have the CBT certificate.

I've got a Honda MT50 which I commuted on for a year, it did about 45 mph.
Unfortunately I can't get it to run properly at the moment or I would've sold it to you

No as it entitles me to a full moped licence
Are you sure? I seriously doubt it, there is/was an official up to 125 only test for people wanting to ditch the L plates and not renew their cbt but not interested in what was the full DAS test.It was carried out at the dsa test centre rather than independently like a cbt.
