Heya, bit of a weird time to ask a question but anyway... Over the last few days my temperature for my engine has been getting really hot, usually sits just below half but today it was 3/4 and if left idling it would get even worse.

The top hose going into the heater is hot, the bottom hose is cold, I am fine on water and there is barely any hot air being blow out when the heater is on car, just a little warmer than cold. So could it be that the matrix is blocked? It is a fairly new one, (at least 5 months). Some said could be a head gasket and I may be running a bit lean but as I said earlier the top and bottom hoses are completely different.

Cheers for any help  :proud:

Blocked thermostat? It may not be opening allowing water to flow.

Check for air locks in the heater matrix

Might be worth draining it down flush it out and refill

Make sure the heater valve is fully open when refilling with the heater on
sometimes helps to squeeze the hoses to help expel any trapped air

Good point about the thermos too take it out and put it into boiling water you will soon see if it's working or not

Good luck

Yeah took out my 88 degree thermostat and placed it in a jug then poured boiling water on it and stared at it for about 10 minutes and it didn't open what so ever haha.

Luckily I had my old 82 degrees one laying around and checked to see if that worked and it did. Plonked it in and bob's your uncle!

Now both top and bottom hoses for my matrix are hot and the engine temp is sitting little under half  :proud: Thanks for the help.
