Good point about the bulkhead. If multiple brown wires melted (as you implied earlier) be sure to follow their paths away from the fuse box looking for where they may have become grounded and don't forget to check adjacent wires if the brown wires were inside the loom.

Hi Dklawson! Thanks for the help, i feel like im learning something now. But how does one brown wire supply power to all the connections on the fusebox?

I had a look at the damage, i think the 2 brown wires are just melted at the fuse box connections. BUT theres a wire with an inline fuse that has totally melted away, melting most of the wires going through the bulkhead also

Its a wire that comes from the right, I think they run to the back of the car? Not sure, i will have to take out the dash board tomorrow and trace where it goes to.

brown wires dont just surply the fuse box the travel else where too like to ing switch and headlamp switch etc, but brown wires are pem 12v and also got hazzards inline fuse. but if they have melted around fuse box then i will restate i think the fuse box has earthed out on bulkhead

Again, I don't have a wiring diagram for your car and you need to get one and study it. Minidaves has explained where the brown wires (permanently hot) go and given you some places to look for shorts. Take his advice and a wiring diagram for your car and I'm sure you'll be able to find the problem. If you don't already own one, this would be a good time and excuse to buy a volt-ohm meter to track down this problem.

There was a pad of rubber behind the fuse box, could it have grounded from the screw holding the fusebox?

I have a volt meter, but i dont know where to start with one, i dont even know how to work the damn thing.. its so old. Maybe it is time for a new one.

I had a further look. The one thats messed up my entire loom is this little blue wire that runs down below the heater, then up to the ignition. I think it stopped melting at this connector block (?). I really need help with this, im useless with electrics, and now i hate my mini :(

Pictures would help a lot.

Have you gotten hold of a wiring diagram yet?

Blue wires... well, the main headlight feed to the dimmer switch should be blue but that wire shouldn't be "little".
