Had a bump in my mini and the bumper needs to come off as its pushing my sports pack arches onto the wheel so i cant drive it into the garage. mine is a 98 cooper mpi.

It should be simple, but is there some sort of a nack to it?  ive got a socket that fits them, the nut is turning but so is the screw, yet you dont seem to be able to get access to the screw head to get a screw driver onto it to stop it turning. (the bumper is in the way as the bolts dont come threw the bumper on my mpi)

How is it done?

If its not easy ill just take a hacksaw to the bumper to get if off the arch, but id rather unbolt it :P

Thanks, James.

The thread should be attached to the bumper and then its held on by a nut, i dont think the thread should turn unless yours is a different fitting to mine?

like above the bolt should be welded in place, thay could have snapped off before and then just been drilled out and replaced with nuts and bolts, I have one like this. could you reach up to the other side of the bolt and try and hold it?

You could try tightening it until it shears off, assuming it'll stop spinning first.

Try holding the bottom end of the bolt/stud with a pair if snipe nosed pliers and then undoing the nut with a spanner, as the nut then descends down the thread, swap the pliers over to a position above the nut instead, and then finish undoing the nut. Just be careful not to damage the thread with the pliers or the nut won't come off.
