Arrived at sva centre 8am and had all the whole test centre to ourselves.
Posted Image

Good news is that it only failed on a few little things mostly relating to radiused edges. Front and rear lights too low and emissions way too high. About a days work and a trip to the local mot centre to adjust the emissions. Aiming for retest within 2 weeks.
Noise limit passed by 1 decibel using 2 exhaust cans and a cat.

Tried that when we got home but the rears need to go up by about 6cm so would look a bit silly. Decided to cut the holes higher and then fibreglass up the holes left under the lights. Just means Andy will have to repaint the back end again.
Adjusted the front shocks to raise the front indicators as they only needed to be slightly higher.

there is nothing straight forward with these sva tests grrr. i built a dax rush a while back and i was at the bishopbriggs sva test centre in glasgow for 7 hours. and the only thing he could find wrong was the speedo was 5mph out but that is all water under the bridge

well done pete. Are your lights lower than 250 mm ? cant tell off looking at the pictures. just mesured the monte ones at 350mm at the lowest point and i thought the monte sat low.

Looking at the picture's they don't look that low but were measured at about 290mm and need to be 350mm. Only the fog light is 250mm minimum. I think the problem is because when the holes for the lights were cut they were lined up with the bottom edge of the boot opening. Spent age's deciding where to fit the fog light to get it high enough without ruining the smooth look that I didn't even bother checking the height of the other light's.
I think we were lucky with the speedo reading because we have fitted the sensor to the front wheel. He wasn't able to test it in the rollers because it requires the engine to drive the wheels. He drove it around the building and said that works ok but I would recommend checking it with a sat nav when you get it on the road just to make sure.
We were very happy to come away with such a small and simple list of fail points. Could have been a lot worse.

That lights issue is a bit of a bummer, but at least the end is in sight!

Ooops yes its 250mm for fog lights and front indicators I believe, could be wrong. Speedo I usually set to read fast 8mph than the actual speed. Newcastle sva has driven rollers so they can check either setup. At least you made the sva deadline. The new IVA it going to be interesting :D
