Driving to Lichfield and back today I have seen 11 convertibles driven by men. 10 of the 11 were bald! This concerns me as I have a convertible as a daily and am not bald (and would prefer to stay that way).

So is it possible that driving a convertible makes you bald?

I dont think the act of driving a convertible directly makes you bald, its a number of factors;

- Convertibles and hairdressers, need I say more, clearly too much dressing of the hair

- How fast one drives with the top down, one could simply have their hair blow away,
- The driver also may be looking to improve the aerodynamics by making his head smooth

;D

And before I get attacked by a mob of convertible drivers, I actually like them a lot, to quote one of my uni friends who owns an MX-5 "its like playing outside", they are great fun with the top down

I hadn't thought of option 3. Perhaps I should try a full 'Yul Brynner' and compare in the name of science.

I've driven a few convertibles, but never owned one, and I'm bald!

Judging by what i saw the other day, i would say no!

I was driving through the town centre and was being followed by an M3 cabrio. The driver looked like peter stringfellow! He had a full head of thick white hair and quite a large white goatee. He was posing so much that i couldn't help but laugh. Thing is, i was laughing so much that he noticed me in my rear view mirror and immediately stopped posing. lol

So basically, if he can drive a cabrio and retain hair like that at his age then i can't see there being a problem!

If you are worried, i suppose you could always wear an open faced helmet and a pair of goggles.

I have heard that frequent heavy use of hair gel causes you to thin out...... O_O

exactly my thoughts but I thought I would let someone else get the flack for it. No hair = buy convertible. I got mine because there aren't many decent cheap RWD cars about that aren't, but I love the roof down fun. Visibility is like being back on a bike and very useful when exiting roundabouts in a spirited way if you know what I mean.

I have no hair and I never had a convertible. I used to ride with my cousin in his new 1972 Midget  when I was in college but that was it. He still has all his hair and the Midget too.

What a load of complete and utter tosh! I've never been anywhere near a convertible and I'm as bald as coot!....

......Not that I've ever actually seen a coot, or noticed how bald they are, do they drive convertibles?
