Hi guys

Thanks for letting me join the forum, looking forward to getting to know my way around!!!

Not sure if I've posted in the right place, but here goes....
I'm after a bit of advice if possible? I'm looking at buying a 57 plate cooper 1.6 D with 142k on the clock.
Is there anything I should look out for or is it best keeping clear of one with such high mileage? Current owner says it's had a lot of work done in last 12 months.....new turbo, egr valve, springs etc....but I could do with some input from the people who actually own the cars themselves???

Thanks in advance,
Neil...

I have a cooper D with 80k on it. really nice car too drive and good on fuel. but its a Peugeot engine, I have had egr problems with mine but I had it remapped and had the egr deleted and blanked. my girlfriend has the same engine in her 207 and we have had a lot of problems with it new egr injectors and it still smoke on acceleration. DPF's also block and are costly to replace. cars are good generally but engines can be problematic. personally I would say overall the PSA 1.6HDI is a poor engine choice by bmw to power the mini and although a lot has been done to that mini. I would avoid it as once they start going wrong they keep going wrong especially with the turbo and feed pipes.

And on the flip side I know many people who have had no issues. I would recommend that the car has a full service history. Bear in mind that things like wheel bearings, ect will also be subject to the mileage and ma fail if not already replaced.......

How much is the car?
