No one was saying bigger the better I was stating that your talking crap about a 286 is rubbish cam

The whole reason why it's called a fast road cam .
At the end of the say it's down to how he is going to drive the car as people who have got a 286 fitted has just said there is nothing wrong with that cam on road

2000-7000 power band is 500rpm more than a 266 I know it's not all about powerband but normal driving around you will be in that power band anyway

And for people fitting a roll cage and bucket seats which nearly all people do for a fast road/track mini is up to them same as you obviously want a standard mini

I think from the everything said a 286 is out, however I never wanted one of those, but thanks for the comments, good advice for one and all, I think I will stick to the plan either a 276 or an ACD-RS.

Cheers For Your Help

The 276 would be an excellent choice for a fast-road built engine. You should be able to achieve around 90hp with other suitable engine modifications.

When people have tried both options 266/mg and the 286, doing a few thousand miles by themself, for a fast road car, not a daily, (not a stripped out rally special) , then you will see.

I tried the cam full well reading the 'unsuitable' comments of some people on here. Dont regret it any way, having previously ran an mg and 266. Having driven a car with a 276, I didnt feel it was enough of a step from the 266 either.

Back to the OP, i'd try the sw8, inbetween the 266 / 286 style cams, but with modern technology and development. Yes the a series has been around for a long time, but there's always room for development.
