Hi,i am rubbing down paint on the bodywork and also want something a bit rougher for the inner wings that are a tad rough to get it down a bit. Can someone tell me what grit, grade i need in scotch pad or wet n dry,and also power sanding discs. Cheers
Also best place to buy.

With my da and by hand I used p80 and p120 when sanding bare metal or filler then I used p240 on sound paint and previously shaped filler this was easily covered with 2k high build then flatted primer with p320 using a guide coat, then applied a second guide coat and finished with p400, this was then over coated with 2k direct gloss any sanding on the gloss I used p2000 wet followed by g3 on a white compounding foam on my rotary polisher, then when car is finished will use g10 on a black polishing foam.

80 grit  - primary rubbing down stage / cutting filler into shape

120 grit - reducing sharpness of the cut of 80 grit.

240 grit - same again, finer grade, making it smoother for paint

380 grit - a finishing grade, good enough for high build primer to be applied over.

500 - course wet and dry for cutting back undercoat

800 - fine wet and dry for finishing touches of undercoat ready for top coat

this is all with use of a block for 80 grit and shaping the bodywork, and then a DA sander for the rest. if you do it by hand, the finish is less polished and id say go to 1200 grit for the final stage

to do a good job on the exterior you need it all. i get all my paint supplies from BEEBEE paint suppliers as they deliver to me and are fairly local:)

What DA would you use?

I borrowed one years ago when spraying a shell but need to sort my own this time. The one I used was rectangular that you could clip cut W+D sheets to. This seemed more economical than a round one requiring discs. I have a polisher so don't need it to double up.
