Hi

I am new to the The Forum but have been battling this problem for several years so hopefully someone can help.

1999 MPI Cooper S Works down in Perth Australia.

The wipers work when held on manually but won't when set to one of the 3 set positions (intermittent, slow or fast) - initially - but then will start after a random time - maybe 10 seconds maybe a minute. They will then work on that setting but may or may not work when switched to one of the other settings.

Its almost as if they have a mind of their own and want to have a good think about whether they want to work or not that day - I wonder sometimes if they have come out of an Alfa.

Given that they always work manually I am assuming its not a motor issue. No amount of jiggling about with the switching seems to change their attitude so I am thinking its not the switch. Is it a relay ??

Anyone ever seen this ?

Thx

Marshall

I've just sorted a problem with the wipers on my MPi, turned out the wiper park switch was broken (a common fault). This thread may give you some good info...

Thx. I will look into that.

If its broken then I have an order that I need to put in with Mini Sport for other parts so another GBP10 won't break the bank.

Cheers
