The late 'Taffy' posted these old tv clips that I had recorded on a vhs videotape about this Mini many years ago.

Sadly re-shelled when it was restored many years ago in the 1980's......back then few people bothered preserving a badly rusty shell when there were plenty of rust free Mk1's still around for a swap, originalty was not considered so important as today and values of such Mini's were much less.

i realise a lot of old classics were reshelled, and the argument about a car is or is not still original has been going on for years, but i feel that when a statement is made saying something is original then i would expect that the vast majority of it was except for general wear and tear items. i just feel it's false advertising

I'm particularly happy and emotional about this post. The 'first' or not, a reshell, or not. I dont think it matters. It's clear Bernard had an amazing attachment to this car and loved it until the end, if Minis aren't about that, what are they about?

This one will spark a lot of interest, it will be very interesting to see what it goes for (and what becomes of it).

Will it be another blank cheque book restoration to new condition?

Personally I'd put it away in a garage and not touch it or do the bare minimum to make it road worthy.

that's what I thought. Surely something like this would be sold at a big auction somewhere like the revival? I just hope its genuine. Amazing story of the car though. Certainly one to watch.

I suspect it has something to do with that it may not even be a mk1 shell anymore..

I have taken the time to write to the seller informing them, that in my humble opinion, this car should be placed in a more 'specialist' auction.

I have yet to receive a reply but I hope, for the sake of the Mini community, the new owner restores it with sympathy and heritage in mind..

While I respect the above opinions greatly it must be remembered that no single nut or bolt remains of Morris chassis 140. You are buying a V5c and vin plate issued in 1962 when it was renumbered 98. With that are an assortment of random mini parts and a MK2 body shell.

It cannot be restored only recreated from an early body shell.
